Principal consultant Greg Cannon is an expert communicator with more than 25 years of experience and a strong record of success as a writer, editor, and leader in the fields of journalism, NGOs, and higher education.
As Chief Public Affairs Officer at Marist College in New York's Hudson Valley, Greg was a member of the President's Cabinet and dramatically increased the quality, quantity, and consistency of content across all digital and print channels for both internal and external communications. As the college's Director of Foundation & Corporate relations, he wrote $7 million worth of successful funding applications. As a writer and editor for special projects in the Office of the President, he oversaw entrepreneurial projects, including launching a new consumer information website.
Prior to Marist, Greg was a daily news reporter for papers in New Hampshire, California, and New York, where his coverage included a presidential primary, the U.S. military response to 9/11, and the Iraq War, as well as environmental and education beats.
Greg began his career managing industrial pollution-prevention projects in Central & Eastern Europe for a New York City-based environmental NGO. He received an MS in Journalism from Columbia University and a BA in Geography from Clark University.
Greg's recent projects include media relations work on behalf of U.S. Paralympics, social media work for the American India Foundation, and social media consulting with members of New York's consular community.
Cannon Strategic Communications is based in New York's beautiful Hudson River Valley, where Greg services clients locally, in nearby New York City, and beyond, while taking advantage of all the great skiing, hiking, and cycling the region offers. He loves the place he calls home, but also enjoys traveling for work and pleasure.
